Naoko was born and raised in Himeji, Japan where her family ran a restaurant business. It was from an early age that she found joy in making healthy meals at home and received her chef’s license in Japan.

For the last 35 years, Naoko has held various position in the food industry, everything from leading the bakery at Garwood’s Orchards, running her own catering + private chef business, consulting local cafeterias, and more.

In her free time, she enjoys riding her road bike, reading, and making sure her neighborhood stray cats are fed and healthy.
